MISSION

If you are visiting this website because you have a pet that is failing, and you are considering Home Euthanasia, Compassionate Cat Care would like to extend our sincerest condolences.

Our mission is to provide a compassionate, painless and peaceful passing for your pet. With loved ones by their side, in their own home, your pet’s discomfort is ended with the love, affection, and serenity they deserve.

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is never easy. Each pet is a very special family member. When it comes time to let them go, Compassionate Cat Care is experienced, warm, caring, empathetic and nonjudgmental. We believe that the process of saying goodbye should be as peaceful and respectful as possible, in the comfort and privacy of your home.

ABOUT

My name is Diane Perry DVM, the founder of Compassionate Cat Care, Inc.  I received a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Microbiology and Biochemistry from Georgia State University. I worked as a licensed clinical Microbiology Technologist before earning my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine  from the University of Georgia.  For  several  years  I worked as an associate veterinarian for small animal and exotic animal practices. I also taught the avian and exotic course for the veterinary technician program at St. Petersburg College. I then worked as a solo practitioner in a feline practice that I founded and owned for over twenty one years.  I was also a state and federally licensed falconer and wildlife rehabilitator, with extensive experience with birds of prey and gopher tortoises. I enjoy walking, biking, and rock collecting. I share my life with a wonderful man and a precious feline family.

I am a member of the following professional organizations:

  • American Association of Feline Practitioners

  • American Veterinary Medical Association

  • Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement

  • American Society for Clinical Pathology

EUTHANASIA

Upon arrival, I will meet with you and your pet. You will have time to ask questions and talk over any concerns that you may have. You will be asked to sign a consent form. This gives me legal permission to perform the euthanasia.

When you feel that your pet is in a comfortable place we will proceed. I will give your pet a small injection, with a tiny needle, just under the skin. This is a combination of a sedative and anesthetic. This injection may cause minor discomfort, but it will only last a moment. Your pet will then begin to relax and drift off to sleep smoothly. Usually within 5-10 minutes. You may hold your pet after this injection. I then step outside to allow you time alone with your pet as your pet falls asleep. This injection provides deep sleep. Your pet will become completely unconscious. The second injection will be given in a vein. Your pet will not be aware of this injection. Your pet will pass away peacefully within seconds. I will then gently check your pet. You may then spend additional time with your beloved one.

VETERINARIANS

Compassionate Cat Care, Inc. is devoted strictly to Home Euthanasia. Please be assured that Compassionate Cat Care does not provide any services outside Home Euthanasia. We always recommend that owners visit their primary veterinarian for all their pets’ medical needs. Referring to Compassionate Cat Care is an option for veterinary hospitals understanding the need and importance of Home Euthanasia. When we visit your patients for Home Euthanasia, you will be notified so you can extend your condolences and update your records.

"Like all vets I hated this, painless though it was, but to me there has always been a comfort in the knowledge that the last thing these helpless animals knew was the sound of a friendly voice and the touch of a gentle hand."

AFTERCARE

Compassionate Cat Care, Inc provides full aftercare for your pet. We use the services of Pet Angel Memorial Center exclusively. They treat your pet with dignity and respect, regardless of your choice for aftercare. If your pet passes away at home you can contact Pet Angel Memorial Center to arrange for aftercare. Their phone number is 407-884-7336.

I provide a paw print and a fur clipping from your pet, if desired, at no additional fee.

Private Cremation
Your pet will be cremated individually. You will get your pet’s ashes returned to you. Your private cremation includes your choice of a basic urn with a name plate and a clay paw print. You may also choose a specialized urn for an additional fee.

Communal Cremation
Your pet will be cremated with other loved pets. No ashes are returned to you. When the cremation process is complete, the communal remains will be placed in a communal burial lot at one of our pet cemeteries.

Home Burial
You will assume all the responsibility for the lawful care of your pet's body. Please understand that the drugs used for euthanasia are toxic to any animal if the remains are injested. Compassionate Cat Care will provide a burial bag for your pet.
